Mera Peak Climbing is the ultimate experience in walking roped-up, using ice axes, crampons, jumar, and abseil devices.
Mera Peak Climbing which is 6554m offers a thrilling adventure into the heart of the Himalayas. Starting from Lukla, the route follows trails established by local yak herders, passing through small villages, stone huts, and high pastures until Khare. Although off the beaten path, the trail is well-defined. The trek is designed to be gradual, allowing for acclimatization with a scheduled extra day at Khare. This day can be used to explore the Hinku Nup Glacier and the base camp of Kantega.
High camp is typically set up above Mera La (5,335m) to facilitate an early morning climb, making the ascent easier by navigating crevasses. While the high camp is not always necessary, the decision is made on-site. Mera Peak features twin summits, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding high mountain peaks. After reaching the summit, the journey retraces its steps back to Lukla, followed by a flight to Kathmandu.
